Guru Rinpoche Day
Description:
Second major festival in the Tibetan Calendar. This day marks the enlightenment of the Buddha, when he proclaimed:
"Profound peace, natural simplicity,
uncompounded luminosity,
I have found a nectar-like dharma."
This day is also the anniversary of his paranirvana. When he lay dying, he said to his disciples:
"It is in the nature of all things that take form to dissolve again. Strive with your whole being to attain perfection."
